Eastern Cape Tourist Destinations
PE is about an hours drive from the Southern entrance to the breathtaking Baviaanskloof Wildernis Area (a twisting ravine walled between two majestic parallel east-west mountain ranges), a World Heritage Site. It is the largest nature conservation area in SA.
- Kragga Kamma Game Farm - 8.8 km
Self drive game farm where the lush coastal forest and grassland is home to vast herds of African game, including White Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Bontebok, Lechwe and many more species.

This small 450 hectare reserve is protected to ensure that the excellent variety of plant, bird and animal species that occur here remain unharmed.

The conservation area extends over about 25 000 ha of lightly undulating to flat terrain, Mammals that occur within the area include bushpig, bushbuck, Cape Grysbok, steenbok, common duiker, Vervet monkey, and large and small grey mongoose, the bird diversity is considerable.
- Addo Elephant National Park - 67km North East
This finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo.
- Shamwari Private Game Reserve - 80km East
Shamwari Private Game Reserve is home to Africa’s Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard), is malaria free and is situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
- Tsitsikamma National Park - 180 km West
The heartland of the park stretches some 5 km to sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish. Dolphins frolic in the breakers, surfing and playing for the sheer joy of life, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale visits here, coming inshore to breed.
This, "the place of much water", is the Tsitsikamma National Park.
- Langkloof Fruit Route - 110km West
The Langkloof Fruit Route, lies in the valley between the Kamanasie and Kouga mountains in the north, and the Outeniqua- Langkloof and Tsitsikamma mountains in the south. This area, which stretches along the valley for more than 160km, used to be the home ground of Bushmen and Gonagua Hottentots. Today it is the second largest fruit production area in South Africa - specialising in apples and pears, with many other varieties of fruit also grown.
- Mountain Zebra National Park - 270km North
The craggy heights of the Mountain Zebra National Park's Bankberg embrace rolling plains and deep valleys, and have become an entrancing preserve for the Cape mountain zebra. Other mammals found here include the cheetah, Cape buffalo, black rhino, eland, black wildebeest, red hartebeest and gemsbok, while mountain reedbuck and grey rhebok frequent the higher areas. Caracal occupies the niche of primary predator.
- Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve - 123km West
The reserve offers visitors various nature based opportunities which include mountain hiking, rock and mountain climbing, camping, bird watching and scenic drives.
It provides a habitat for more than 50 mammal species, over 300 bird species, and other species of animals, such as reptiles and amphibians.
As part of the Cape Floral Kingdom and due to the area's diverse habitat, the spectacular landscapes are home to more than a 1,000 different plant species.
